Two Artists. Two Mediums. One Life Together.
Cathy and John Zecchini share a life, a home, a love of creating—and two very different ways of seeing the world.
Cathy finds in watercolor a sense of peace and freedom, describing painting as the kind of total mental escape she otherwise finds only while swinging in a hammock. Her watercolors reflect that enjoyment through flowers, landscapes, nature, and the places and moments that catch her eye.
John finds his creative freedom in oils and acrylics, moving between landscapes and familiar places and more recent experiments with color, texture, abstraction, and stained-glass-inspired designs.
Their approaches may be different, but their creativity often begins in the same place: something that makes them stop, look, and want to capture it. For this exhibition, some paintings represent their individual journeys, while others have been paired around subjects and ideas they have interpreted in their own ways.
The Marriage of Oil and Water is a celebration not simply of two artists or two mediums, but of two people who have spent a lifetime sharing experiences while still giving each other the freedom to see—and create—the world differently.
After all, oil and water aren't supposed to mix.
Apparently, nobody told John and Cathy.
